Christchurch Pride Week was launched in style at Queer Takes on Monday 10 May. The 2ndannual Pride Week art exhibition at Cultured Gallery features 33 works by established as well as emerging local queer artists, some exhibiting work publicly for the first time. Queer Takes and Pride Week 2010 were formally opened by Grant Banberry, painter and former Christchurch gallery owner.
Curator and exhibiting artist Warren Robertson says, “Last year there was a great response to the show from the wider arts community in Christchurch, and we even had artists come to us later from around New Zealand who’re interested to exhibit. We’re very excited to be showing a never before seen work by the late Grant Linguard, acclaimed Christchurch artist and gay man who died of AIDS.”
